Close-up of a premium sports bra band and shoulder seam

What to Look for in a Premium Sports Bra

Mia Caldwell · 6 July 2026 · 6 min read

A premium sports bra is defined by the details you feel after forty-five minutes, not the marketing you feel before.

A premium sports bra isn't about the brand badge. It's about the construction choices that keep the piece comfortable from the first wear to the hundredth.

The four markers

  • A bonded, non-elastic band that holds without digging
  • Soft-edge binding at the neckline and armholes
  • A fabric blend with at least 18% Elastane
  • Flat internal seams, or none at all

Why band construction matters

Elastic bands eventually lose tension. Bonded bands hold across wash cycles because they rely on fabric density, not stitched-in elastic. Over 12 months, this is the difference between a bra that still fits and a bra that rides up.
